SGTS News

SGTS News brings you the latest news about Soccer Goes to School®. Visit us periodically and learn all details about our current and future activities.

  • Summer Camp 2010

Soccer Goes to School® is hosting the first Summer Camp of the

organization's history. All profits of the camp will be reinvested in our

regular programs in order to continue delivering free soccer teaching and

coaching services to the schools of Hillsborough County.

The Summer Camp will be held at the facilities of Central Baptist

Christian School. We cannot thank Pastor O'Hara and Coach Willard

enough for their help; only through their colaboration is it possible to run

    the camp at CBCS.

The camp is directed to boys and girls between 7 and 12 years old. Age

related skills, tactical fundamentals and game insight will be the main

topics of our camp. In a fun and peaceful atmosphere our professional

coaching staff will improve the perfomance of every child in those

    particular areas.

Kids are asked to wear soccer cleats and shin guards and to bring a soccer

    ball to the sessions.

  • Our activities in 2010

    • Physical Education at Tampa Bay Boulevard Elementary

Thanks to the help of Ileana Profant and Michael Coto, Physical Education teachers at the school, we were again able to run a soccer unit for 11 different classes at Tampa Bay Boulevard Elementary. We taught a total of 18 hours for 240 fourth and fifth graders.

This year we had to overcome the strong winter days. For that particular reason we had to cancel some of the planned days. But as usual it was a lot of fun and we are already looking forward to 2011.

    • Goalkeeper training for the girls'team at Bloomingdale High School

We were very honored to contribute to the practices of the girls'

team at Bloomingdale High School. Thanks to Sue Peet, Head Coach,

we did one weekly session for their goalkeepers. Sue has created a

sensational practice venue and we look forward to her successful

    season this year.

    • Soccer activity for the Attractor Program at Lopez Elementary

Soccer Goes to School®  is hosting a year  around activity at Lopez Elementary School. Thanks to Mr. Mike Engle, school principal, we have been contributing to the Attractor Program. 100  boys and girls  used the program since September 2008.  We will be attending the Sports Banquet on June 9, 2010 and we are very grateful for the invitation.

    • Soccer activity for the Afterschool Program at Bailey Elementary

Soccer Goes to School®  is hosting a soccer activity at Bailey Elementary School every Wednesday and Thursday in their after school program.

Our involvement began on January 14, 2010 and we have worked with a total of 27 boys and girls.

We thank Mrs. Amy Zilbar, School Principal, for her trust in our services.
